Engineering Management

As of 2022, the Technical Committee of Engineering
Management under the Canadian Society for Civil
Engineers has undergone significant changes. The
committee has been revived with the appointment
of a new Chair, Dr Pouya Zangeneh. The Chair has
been asked to finalize the list of executive members
who will help steer the Committee’s activities.

  • One of the key goals of the Committee is to establish
an online course focused on addressing pressing
issues in engineering management. The lecture
series will provide a platform for experts in the field
to share their knowledge and experiences on a range
of topics, including climate change adaptation,
    project management, risk assessment, sustainability,
and ethics. The Committee hopes that the courses
will serve as a valuable resource for engineers,
    engineering students, and other professionals
looking to expand their knowledge and stay up to
    date with current industry trends.
  • Another initiative being planned by the Committee is
an industrial‐focused specialty conference, to be
held next year in conjunction with the Niagara 2024
conference. The specialty conference will provide a
platform for engineers, industry leaders, and
researchers to come together and discuss emerging
trends, best practices, and innovative solutions in
    engineering management. The committee hopes
that the conference will foster collaboration and
    knowledge‐sharing among industry stakeholders,
and ultimately drive innovation and progress in the
    field of engineering management.
  • Overall, the Technical Committee of Engineering
Management is poised to make significant strides in
advancing the field of engineering management
through a range of innovative initiatives. With a
    strong focus on collaboration, knowledge‐sharing,
and innovation, the Committee is well‐positioned to
play a leading role in shaping the future of
engineering management in Canada and beyond.
